Hi, I'm George Szulc, a student Cloud Architect at A Cloud Guru. Learning new things is what I enjoy. I started my journey as an IT Help desk at a manufacturing plant. I was the wear all hats, as they call it, in the IT industry. There I learned many things in IT like, Network, Linux, and a little bit of coding. Currently, I'm working for a global company that is using cloud technology in its environment. I have been fortunate enough to get brought on board and start learning how they do things in a multi-cloud environment. When I'm not working or studying, I enjoy playing with my daughter and spending time with my family.

Here, I managed networking and information security, with expertise in solutions by Cisco, Fortigate, and Barracuda. I administered VLANs on Cisco switches and managed bandwidth for Cisco routers and a Cisco ASA firewall. I also pre-configured switches in preparation for the replacement of legacy switches company-wide. The scope of my responsibilities included network monitoring and troubleshooting; I installed the LibreNMS networking monitoring application and established a networking map, and defined formal policies governing the Cisco ASA 5516 firewall. Additional firewall work included the configuration and implementation of the FortiGate and Barracuda firewalls and the development of formal policies for both. I also established the SolarWinds Kiwi Syslog server and set up backups for the configurations of the Cisco and FortiGate firewalls.
